CoD MW2 season 2 release date: UK launch time & Warzone 2 patch notes
Everything you need to know about the new season.
It's officially update time for Battle Royale fans, with both Call of Duty and Apex Legends starting new seasons while Fortnite gets a mid-season patch.
However, Call of Duty gifts us the double whammy of new content for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, with both games receiving maps, modes and weapons.
A new map and the return of Resurgence mode are the highlights for Warzone 2 fans, while MW2 players finally get to get to show off their skill in the long-awaited Rank Play.
Here's everything you need to know about MW2 and Warzone 2 season 2, including release date, UK start time and full patch notes.
When does MW2 season 1 end?
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 season 1 is set to end on or around 15th February 2023.
The season was originally set to end on 1st February 2023, but the end date was pushed back when season 2 was delayed by two weeks.
When is the MW2 season 2 release date?
The CoD Modern Warfare 2 season 2 release date is scheduled for 15th February 2023. This has been confirmed by the development team.
While we were originally expecting an earlier release date for both MW2 and Warzone 2 season 2, it's good to know exactly when the new competitive season is launching. We now know when the new battle pass is set to begin and bring with it new maps and more.
What time does MW2 season 2 start in the UK?
As expected, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 season 2 will start at 5pm GMT in the UK.
For those elsewhere in the worldwide, that equates to the following times:
- 9am PT
- 12pm ET
- 6pm CET
- 2am JST
Bear in mind this is the start time for both Modern Warfare and Warzone 2 season 2 - so you'll be able to dive straight into the new Resurgence map in Warzone 2 or Ranked Play in multiplayer straight away.

What will change in the MW2 season 2 patch notes?
Activision has revealed what we can expect to be added in MW2 season 2 and Warzone 2 season 2. Spoilers: we can expect a lot.
In the image above you can see everything that's planned to be added to both online games.
The headline additions to Warzone 2 as part of season 2 are as follows:
- New Map: Ashika Island map brings Resurgence Mode back to Warzone
- New Contract: Search and Seizure on Ashika Island. You need to reclaim a stolen vehicle from Shadow Company forces
- New Public Event: Data Heist on Ashika Island. Download data off of three uplink stations that activate during the second circle collapse
- 1v1 Gulag Duels
- New DMZ content on Ashika Island
- New enemies and boss
- New Points of Interest on Al Mazrah including downed aircraft
The headline changes and additions to MW2 Season 2 are as follows:
- Ranked play (finally)
- New maps: Dome (core map), Zaya Observatory (battle map), Al Malik International (battle map), and Valderas Museum (core map)
- New modes: Infected (launch), Grind (launch), Hardcore (launch), Gun Game (launch), Drop Zone (mid-season), All or Nothing (mid-season), and One in the Chamber (mid-season)
- New Operator: Daniel 'Ronin' Shinoda
- New Skins
- New Weapons
- New Raid Episode: Goes live mid-season
